It's Time to Quince
For my 39th birthday - back in May - my best girlfriends and I met the self-proclaimed Queen of Quince, Barbara Ghazarian, at the Holman Ranch Vineyards Tasting Room in Carmel Valley. She was hosting a cooking class and signing cookbooks. What a perfect way to celebrate a birthday...except that quince wasn't in season.
Now, it is! I just saw a post from Happy Girl Kitchen Co., reminding people to order quince. It's the one and only week that they offer it. So, I was on it, happily clicking through to order and pay for my 10-pound box of quince.
I will be picking up on ten pounds of the most fragrant, intoxicating fruit on Friday. I am ready to quince. If you've never cooked with quince, get on it. The season it short.
Try quince butter, quince marmalade, and quince syrup! Included in my box is recipe for quince paste. Maybe I'll try that this year.
