I thought these looked like chocolate turtles, but those sweets have caramel in them. These were just two leftover ingredients from other things - melted dark chocolate and pecan pieces - and I didn't want to waste them. So I stirred the pecan pieces into the melted chocolate and dropped them by tablespoons onto a piece of parchment paper. I pressed one more pecan piece into the top. Super easy.

I found a recipe from food historian Maricel Presilla that mimicked traditional Spanish hot chocolate from the 17th century where it was served at lavish receptions called agasajos . Something similar to this, (that is also delicious) is chocolate over chow mien noodles. You know, the crunchy ones that you find atop salads? Those. Mmm. So good.
