Earl Grey Hot Toddy for Winter #WarmUpDrinks

Happy New Year and welcome to the Winter Warm-Up Drink Series hosted by Ellen of Family Around the Table! For the next six Fridays, we'll be featuring winter drinks guaranteed to warm you right up!

The Kick-Off Recipes

Ingredients makes 2 drinks
  • 2 T Earl Grey tea loose leaf tea
  • 2 C boiling water
  • 3 ounces whisky or bourbon, divided
  • freshly squeezed juice from 2 organic lemons (I used Meyer lemons)
  • 2 T honey (less if you prefer it less sweet)
  • also needed: tea pot with strainer

Put the water in a kettle or saucepan and bring to a boil. Place tea in a mesh strainer and pour water over the leaves. Let tea steep for about 3-5 minutes.

In the bottom of your serving cups, place whisky or bourbon, honey, and lemon juice. Pour in the hot, steeped tea and stir to combine completely and dissolve the honey.

Serve hot.

  1. Earl Grey is my go-to choice for tea most of the time, so I'm excited to try this! I've never been interested in hot toddys before, but I make one with Cinnamon Tea that's a real belly-warmer. Bet I'll enjoy your version too!
