Bike-Powered Blender Smoothies

We went to an event this morning - at the Hilton Bialek Habitat - that celebrated sustainable living. There was a bike-powered blender that we had to try! D couldn't quite reach the pedals, so I had to make our smoothie.





What do you think? Get a workout and make your breakfast at the same time!?! These were blueberry, strawberry, banana, and apple juice. And they were tasty!

As we headed inland from the coast, I cringed as the temperature gauge in the car for outside temp climbed into the triple digits. Ugh. I'm a rather wimpy central coastal Californian who begins to wilt when it's 70 degrees outside. Thank goodness for air conditioning and a planned ice cream stop.
