Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant, the feast day for Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, is March 1st.

Traditionally to celebrate the day, Welsh people wear one or both of the national emblems of Wales on their lapel: the daffodil and the leek, which is Saint David's personal symbol. The association between leeks and daffodils is fortified by the fact that the two have similar names in Welsh, Cenhinen (leek) and Cenhinen Pedr (daffodil, literally "Peter's leek").

This sounds like the perfect reason for a culinary adventure and a virtual trip to Wales with the boys this evening.  I'll pick up some leeks and daffodils today.  I'm thinking maybe a leek soup or leek tart for dinner.  Photos and recipes to come.
