Connecticut Lobster Rolls, Canned Lobster Bisque, and a 2019 Henry Fessy 'Maître Bonhome' Viré-Clessé #Winophiles

This month the French Winophiles group is looking at affordable wines from Burgundy.  Host Cindy of Grape Experiences wrote: "Burgundy, or Bourgogne, is known for its wines of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir... as well as Aligote, Gamay, Sauvignon, César, Pinot Beurot, Sacy, Melon in lesser quantities. Many of the well-known wines are quite expensive, but there are plenty of values to be found." Read her invitation here. And there won't be a Twitter chat for this event, so you will have to dive into the articles themselves to read about our pairings and findings. Here's the line-up... You're Invited as the #Winophiles Discuss Grapes that Crossed Continents

For the September French Winophiles' event of 2022, I am inviting the #Winophiles crew to explore indigenous or typical grapes from France with me. The twist: find a bottle of French grapes that are cultivated and made into wine somewhere else around the world.  Let's look at French varieties made into wines around the globe. Here are a few examples: Cinsault but made in Chile; Sémillon from Australia; or Négrette made in California.  Be creative. You can even do a comparison if you wish.  The bottles photographed above are a 50% Cinsault blended with Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon from Lebanon's Bekaa Valley and a Spanish Alicante Bouschet. I know, I know, Spain isn't on a different continent from France. Just jump in with a French grape made anywhere other than France. I can't wait to share a white Carignan from Mexico soon! Details for participation This #Winophiles September 2022 event is Saturday, September 17th, 2022. Are you ready to jump in and participate?...
