An All-Day Sipper: Chablis Val de Mer Brut Nature Rosé + A Crêpe Tutorial #PureChablis #Winophiles #CulinaryCam

This week, with Jill of L'Occasion at the head, the French Winophiles are shining the spotlight on Chablis. You can read her invitation post here . Before Jill lined up a sponsor and media samples for the event, I had tracked down a bottle of a sparkling Rosé to share. So, even though this will not be my pairing or post for the #Winophiles event, I wanted to share a little bit about this wine...and a little bit more about Chablis. Chablis from I'll be honest: When I saw Jill's topic for the month. I pictured the bottle above. When I was a kid - probably 6 to 9 years old -  my dad was teaching ROTC to students at San Francisco State and Sacramento State. These were young cadets, mostly in their early 20s and mostly single. So, my parents would host spaghetti dinners once a month and invite the students to our house for dinner. I just remember going to the commissary with my dad to get jugs of Carlo Rossi Chablis for those who liked white wine and, maybe the P

Napa Valley's 2018 Frog's Leap 'Shale and Stone' Chardonnay + Chips and Guac #FoodNFlix

Today, I am sharing a recipe inspired by the movie Bottle Shock because  this month's  Food'N'Flix  is being hosted by Debra at  Eliot's Eats .  And her choice - and our assignment this month is -  Bottle Shock.  Read her announcement:  here . I have seen several movies about California wines and they have been hit and miss for me. I don't know if I'm more critical of how movie makers portray my home state, but I'm about fifty-fifty on whether or not I enjoy a movie about wines set here. For example, I despised  Sideways  and found  Wine Country  surprisingly serious (read my post  A Surprisingly Somber Chick Flick + a Quintessential NapaValley Floor Cab ); but I adored  A Walk In the Clouds  and made  Charred Grapes on a Cloud  for a #FoodNFlix post several years back. And  Bottle Shock  falls into the 'love' category.  I watched Bottle Shock  when it first came out in 2008 and I've probably seen it a handful of times since then. But I did wat

Man'oushe + Château Musar Lebanon Jeune Red 2017 #WinePW

For  May's Wine Pairing Weekend event, Wendy of  A Day in the Life on the Farm  is inviting the blogging group to look at Middle Eastern wine pairings. So, after a bit of back and forth about what constitutes the Middle East, I landed on a Lebanese food and wine pairing.  I know that some of the group had trouble sourcing Middle Eastern wines, so Wendy opened up the field to include Middle Eastern inspired-dishes with whatever wine we wished. I do see in the titles that at least a few of us found wines from the region. If you are reading this early enough, feel free to jump into our live Twitter chat on Saturday, May 8th at 8am Pacific. Just follow the hashtag #WinePW and be sure to add it to anything you tweet so we can see it. Here's the line-up of articles from the crew... Well, it was one of his requested treats. In any case, here's the  strawberry line-up from the #FoodieExtravaganza bloggers... Barbecued Strawberry Chicken From   Making Miracl
