White Clam Pizza #FoodieReads

While I have to keep my wanderlust in check for just a little bit longer, as the world opens back up cautiously after fifteen months of being sheltered in place, I have satisfied  my craving for adventure by reading a few roadtrip memoirs recently, the latest of which was  Drive-Thru USA: A Tale of Two Road Trips  by Rich Bradwell.* On the Page I was completely unfamiliar with Bradwell's writing, but I will definitely seek out his subsequent books. In fact, I've already added two to my list. But I have always been intrigued by other countries'  views of my own. I remember cringing as a friend from Denmark gave me daily updates on their take on our 45th president who shall remain unnamed here.  So, it was fascinating to read Bradwell's well-written and well-researched book that details two road trips he took across America, first, with a university friend and then, a decade later, with his wife. During both trips, they travel from state to state in search of the most i

Peek-a-Boo Panda Bread #BreadBakers

#BreadBakers is a group of bread loving bakers who get together once a month to bake bread with a common ingredient or theme. You can see all our of lovely bread by following our  Pinterest board  right here. Links are also updated after each event on the  Bread Bakers home page .  We take turns hosting each month and choosing the theme/ingredient. This month Kelly of  Passion Kneaded  is hosting and she wrote: "Bake up some bread with something fun inside! Will it be a pattern? A filling?" If you are a food blogger and would like to join us, just send an email with your blog URL to Stacy at foodlustpeoplelove@gmail.com. I was both intrigued and intimidated by the possibility for this event. Mostly intimidated because Kelly shared a link to this bread artist's Instagram:  Konel Bread . This week, with Jill of L'Occasion at the head, the French Winophiles are shining the spotlight on Chablis. You can read her invitation post here . Before Jill lined up a sponsor and media samples for the event, I had tracked down a bottle of a sparkling Rosé to share. So, even though this will not be my pairing or post for the #Winophiles event, I wanted to share a little bit about this wine...and a little bit more about Chablis. Chablis from carlorossi.com I'll be honest: When I saw Jill's topic for the month. I pictured the bottle above. When I was a kid - probably 6 to 9 years old -  my dad was teaching ROTC to students at San Francisco State and Sacramento State. These were young cadets, mostly in their early 20s and mostly single. So, my parents would host spaghetti dinners once a month and invite the students to our house for dinner. I just remember going to the commissary with my dad to get jugs of Carlo Rossi Chablis for those who liked white wine and, maybe the P
