Petite Amuse Box: April 2013

I've been subscribed to Petite Amuse now for eight months. [Click to read my introduction to Petite Amuse  last August.] Think artisan-crafted yummies delivered to your mail box each month; there is no downside! I just received my box for April. This month, we received... Honey Bar — A bar from Bees and Beans , out of Portland, Oregon, layered with honey caramel, salted hazelnut, and honey nougat dipped in dark chocolate. We loved the rich caramel with notes of honey and a sweet, salty tang. And, ironically, the package included a jar from Happy Girl Kitchen which is literally down the street from my house. But, I have been eyeing these jars and never purchased them. So, my sample box still did its job and introduced me to a new-to-me product: Happy Girl's Big Sur Marmalade . Can't wait to see what Petite Amuse sends us next month.

Petit Amuse: November Sample Box

Look at what I got today! My November Petit Amuse subscription sample box. Check them out:  Petit Amuse ! Seriously. I am enamoured. They offer gourmet and specialty food sample boxes to introduce consumers to small food producers, helping them compete with the larger, mass-producing companies. The sample boxes are a wonderful way to try new products without spending a lot. And while - I think! - the goal of these boxes is to inspire subscribers to order more of the goodies, they serve as culinary inspirations to me. While I had one of the cookies in my hand, I was pulling butter out of the fridge with my other hand. "I can make this!" My husband just smiled. The box, as usual, only lasted for about ten minutes. As soon as I cut through the tape, Mann hands were grabbing and the great barter began. "I'll trade you this for that!"  What is it?  "I dunno. Wanna trade?" Here's what was in the package... As soon as I cut through the tape, Mann hands were grabbing and the great barter began. "I'll trade you this for that!" What is it? "I dunno. Wanna trade?" Here's what we tried...and the great new producers I've discovered... CC Made, Pistachio Nut Popcorn Cassandra Chen used to be a currency trader. Then she swapped the trading floor for a kitchen. Petite Amuse Sample Box

Today I saw, on one of my favorite foodie bloggers' blogs, a plug for Petite Amuse . Check them out: Petite Amuse ! Seriously. I am enamoured. They offer gourmet and specialty food sample boxes to introduce consumers to small food producers, helping them compete with the larger, mass-producing companies. The sample boxes seem a wonderful way to try new products without spending a lot. And, judging from Kristin's sample box just received, I am going to love this subscription. This month she received - ice wine jelly from Caramoomel ; salted rosemary shortbread and Cha-Chas from Lark Fine Foods ; sundried tomato and parmesan popcorn from Oogie's Gourmet Popcorn ; and something from Garuka Bars . After reading her post, it took me all of two minutes to sign up for my very own sample box. So, when I get that, you'll hear back from me. Until then, I'll just peruse their website and drool.
