Triple-Citrus Mousse Cake / Torta Agli Agrumi #TheCakeSliceBakers

So, I am new to The Cake Slice Bakers group which I stumbled across after drooling over Karen of Karen's Kitchen Stories ' post about last month's selection: Ukranian Caramel Cake . Karen is one of those bloggers who makes phenomenal looking breads and cakes and makes me wish I lived closer to her; I'd definitely be inviting myself over for dessert often! In any case, I immediately started asking questions about how to join this fun group. Here's the scoop... Each month The Cake Slice Bakers are offered a selection of cakes from the current book we are baking through. This year it is  The European Cake Cookbook  by Tatyana Nesteruk*. We each select one cake to bake, and then on the 20th - never before - we all post about our cake on our blogs. There are a few rules that we follow, but the most important ones are to have fun and enjoy baking - and eating - cakes! Follow our  Facebook ,  Instagram , and  Pinterest  pages where you can find all ...

Makrut Macaroons #ChristmasCookies

December always means Christmas cookies. Lots and lots of Christmas cookies. I was excited to see that Ellen at Family Around the Table was organizing a week-long event surrounding cookies. She has also created a giveway from one of our event sponsors. More on that soon! For now, I hope you enjoy the recipes my fellow bloggers have shared to kick-off this celebration of cookies. Makrut Lime Salmon En Papillote for Fish Foodie Friday

Remember that we kicked off Fish Friday Foodies this year. It's a group of seafood-loving bloggers, coordinated by Wendy of  A Day in the Life on the Farm . We share fish and seafood recipes on the third Friday of the month. This month, Karen of  Karen's Kitchen Stories  is hosting. Our theme for March: Seafood  En Papillote. En papillote is a method of cooking that involves making an envelope out of parchment paper and roasting the fish in the package. I love it! The steam produced in the packet keeps the fish moist, and it's a fun presentation to open the fish packet at the table. Makrut Lime Salmon En Papillote  for Fish Foodie Friday Ingredients  serves 4 4 wild salmon filets dried (or fresh) Makrut lime leave freshly squeezed lime juice olive oil freshly ground pepper bitters for serving (I had Makrut Lime-Bay Leaf bitters on-hand from one of my favorites:  Bar Cart Cocktail Co. ) Also needed: 4 piece of...

A Lime By Any Other Name...

For awhile now, I've referred to these as Kaffir limes. You can click here to read a brief intro . This is what they look like on the outside. This is what they look like on the inside. And this is what their leaves look like. Aren't they cool?!? This post is to explain why I will be referring to these as Makrut limes from now on. I recently discovered there is some controversy about the name 'kaffir'. Not being an Arabic speaker, I can only accept what I am reading. Apparently 'kaffir' means 'infidel' or 'non-believer'. And it's largely used as a slur. Okay, enough said. A lime by any other names...well, they are still as aromatic, unique, and gorgeous as before. But I now call them by their religiously-neutral name! If you're curious what I've made with Makrut limes, take a look!
