Wendy shared: "There was quite a bit of food inspiration.  When the film first starts Sophie is hand fed fresh spaghetti by her fiance.  When they first arrive in Verona her fiance is going to a conference about truffles and is very upset when Claire can't understand why he would want to sit in a class about mushrooms.  He corrects her, dispelling the notion that truffles are just a mushroom. Here we are with the August edition of the Cake Slice Bakers. For 2020, we are baking from  The New Way to Cake: Simple Recipes with Exceptional Flavor  by Benjamina Ebuehi.* In this group, we are given a selection of three cake recipes. We each choose one cake to bake, and then on the 20th - never before - we all post about our cake on our blogs. My boys and I have been foraging huckleberries for years. Normally we just devour them by the handful as we're hiking. Though one year I did get enough to make a Huckleberry Pound Cake . Last weekend we were up there and there were so many berries...and they were just about ready. So, on our way home from a sausage-making class yesterday, the Enthusiastic Kitchen Elf and I scaled the almost 200 steps to the top of Huckleberry Hill with containers in hand and determination to get enough to make a pie. Almost everyone we encountered up there had the same idea we did! Well, maybe not about the pie, but about picking all those ripe huckleberries.
