Bone Suckin' Sauced Ribs + Michael David Winery 2016 Ink Blot Cabernet Franc #LodiWine #Sponsored

This is a sponsored post written by me in conjunction with a virtual wine tasting event hosted by  Snooth for Lodi Wines.  Wine samples were provided for this post and this page may contain affiliate links. You can read about the virtual tasting in which I participated in my  Malfatti di Ricotta con Basilico e Gamberi Agli Agrumi  post. But, basically, I received six different bottles of wine from Lodi to explore and pair. This Michael David Winery 2016 Ink Blot Cabernet Franc was the last in the line-up and I was eager to try it because I have had spotty luck with Cab Francs in the past. Here's my recent experience comparing the reserve and non-reserve 2016 Ironstone Cabernet Franc . But, described as dark, rich, and decadent by the panel and the winemaker, it definitely seemed up my palate-alley. In My Glass This is the first Lodi Cabernet Franc ever produced by the Michael David Winery and one of the few Cab Francs produced in Lodi at ...

Old Vine Zin is an Old Fave #WinePW

Wine Pairing Weekend - #winePW - happens on the second Saturday of the month. And this month - April 2017 - Wendy of  A Day in the Life on the Farm  is hosting. She invited us to share our old standbys. She wrote: "What is your favorite go to bottle? The one you drink with dinner regularly or always make sure you have on hand in case guests drop in? Perhaps your old standby is the wine you like to take as a hostess gift when you are invited over. You know, that bottle that you are sure is going to please without breaking the bank. I, personally, cannot wait to get some ideas for affordable, everyday wines." Me, too! I'll be honest: the only thing I really knew about Lodi was as a Creedence Clearwater Revival song...and being stuck there. You know the song, right? Then a blogging friend Michelle at Rockin Red Blog shared a curated box of wines from Lodi during our last #winePW event. First, I trust her palate implicitly. Second, I can't resist something marketed as 'Out of the Box.' So, a few clicks later and I had Lodi Wines' Out of the Box Thanksgiving   on its way to me. I received a box of four wines from Lodi. I was so intrigued by the descriptions that I decided to use them for a completely Lodi Thanksgiving. What fun! The 2014 Viognier from Acquiesce Winery   is a delightful single varietal. With its soft golden hue and notes of honeysuckle, peaches, and fresh cut herbs, it's shockingly and atypically acidic for a usually sweet varietal. Clean and crisp, I opted to pour Acquiesce with our first course of Tequila Mockingbird and Brave New Swirled Pumpkin...
