A Winning Shot...

As I make forays into getting back to photography and writing, I've entered some contests in different printed and online publications. Above is the photo I submitted for a wine-shot contest last week. Don't ask how I took that. It involved an outstretched arm and a lot of luck. 

This week, I saw in the Monterey County Weekly's (in)Box Lunch:

"And, without further ado, Camilla Mann has won our wine photo contest (and two Monterey Wine Festival tickets), edging out Jenn Gerard and Beverly Van Pelt. The shot is titled 'Cheers' and was taken during a trip down the River Road Wine Trail."
Sweet. So, tonight we drop the boys off with a sitter and I get to whisk my love and a friend away for a wine adventure, the Friday evening kick-off event of the Monterey Wine Fest - "A Night to Celebrate Reds." I'll be writing a piece about some of the local vintners and the rest of the fest for Edible Monterey Bay. Keep an eye out for it...and once it's live there, I'll post a link here.

This month the French Winophiles group is looking at affordable wines from Burgundy.  Host Cindy of Grape Experiences wrote: "Burgundy, or Bourgogne, is known for its wines of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir... as well as Aligote, Gamay, Sauvignon, César, Pinot Beurot, Sacy, Melon in lesser quantities. Many of the well-known wines are quite expensive, but there are plenty of values to be found." You're Invited: Take a (Virtual) Hawaiian Holiday with #FoodNFlix

Fall Break, Oahu, October 2017 For June, I am hosting  Food'N'Flix , the movie-watching, food-making group rallied by Heather of  All Roads Lead to the Kitchen . This week, my older son was supposed to graduate from high school and we were supposed to leave on a family vacation to the Big Island. But, as enter our eleventh week of being sheltered in place to flatten the curve of the coronavirus, all of our summer plans were canceled, including this long-planned graduation trip to Hawaii. Boo. I understand the need to self-isolate. And we are abiding by the social distancing guidelines put in place by our state. But, boo, nonetheless.
