#HotSummerEats: Sweet Garlic Squid #sponsor

Here we are at day two of my Hot Summer Eats event. As promised, I will be sharing a grilled recipe, a non-lettuce salad, and/or a cocktail. So, for the grilled offering today, here's my recipe for marinated squid...with a little help from one of our event sponsors: T.Lish. T.Lish's Sweet Garlic Vinaigrette was the perfect match for some fresh, pan-grilled squid. This is so simple and so tasty.

Ingredients

Procedure
Clean the squid by removing the beak, the pen, and the innards. I do it in a bowl of cool water, but clean it wherever you wish.

Drain the water when you're finished. Pour enough vinaigrette into to the bowl to cover the squid. Agitate with your hands or a spoon. Let stand for at least 10 minutes. Cook in a grill-pan or over coals.

The squid is done when it is just opaque; don't cook it too long or it will get rubbery. Place the cooked squid in a shallow bowl and pour enough vinaigrette over the top to cover the squid. Let stand for at least 10 or 15 minutes.

Serve at room temperature.

Thanks, T.Lish* - just one of our #HotSummerEats sponsors - for ingredients used in this recipe. You can find T.Lish: on the web, on facebook, on twitter, on instagram, and on pinterest.

*Full Disclosure: I received a bottle of Sweet Garlic Vinaigrette from T.Lish for participating in #HotSummerEats. Feel free to use whatever garlic dressing you have on-hand. I received no additional compensation for this post; all comments are 100% accurate and 100% my own.

  1. I can't tell you how much I love the T-Lish products or at least the two I have tried thus far. I haven't gotten to the Chipotle dressing yet.

Connecticut Lobster Rolls, Canned Lobster Bisque, and a 2019 Henry Fessy 'Maître Bonhome' Viré-Clessé #Winophiles

This month the French Winophiles group is looking at affordable wines from Burgundy.  Host Cindy of Grape Experiences wrote: "Burgundy, or Bourgogne, is known for its wines of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir... as well as Aligote, Gamay, Sauvignon, César, Pinot Beurot, Sacy, Melon in lesser quantities. Many of the well-known wines are quite expensive, but there are plenty of values to be found." Read her invitation here. And there won't be a Twitter chat for this event, so you will have to dive into the articles themselves to read about our pairings and findings. Here's the line-up... Hot Chocolate Agasajo-Style {Spice It Up!}

photo by D For my Spice It Up! kiddos this week, I was looking for an exotic drink to serve while we learned about saffron. I found a recipe from food historian Maricel Presilla that mimicked traditional Spanish hot chocolate from the 17th century where it was served at lavish receptions called agasajos . When I teach, I don't always get to shoot photos. Thankfully, D grabbed my camera and snapped a few. Ingredients serves 14-16 1 gallon organic whole milk 3 T dried rosebuds - or 2 t rosewater 2 t saffron threads, lightly crushed 3 T ground cinnamon 3 whole tepin chiles, crushed 2 vanilla beans, split lengthwise 1 C organic granulated sugar 1 lb. bittersweet chocolate Procedure In a large soup pot that can hold a gallon plus, combine milk, dried rosebuds (or rosewater, if you are using that), saffron threads, ground cinnamon, chiles, vanilla beans, and sugar and warm over medium heat till it steams. Whisk to dissolve sugar, then lower heat an...
