Dirty Chai Mini Bundts #BundtBakers

  Here we are in March with the monthly post for the baking group called Bundt Bakers. #BundtBakers is a group of Bundt loving bakers who get together once a month to bake Bundts with a common ingredient or theme. You can see all our of lovely Bundts by following our  Pinterest board . We take turns hosting each month and choosing the theme/ingredient. Updated links for all of our past events and more information about BundtBakers, can be found on our  home page . Rebekah of Making Miracles  is hosting March's Bundt Bakers group. When I read her prompt - "Did you know that March is "National Caffeine Awareness Month"? What better excuse to pull out your favorite caffeinated beverage and incorporate it into a delicious cake! Use anything from tea, coffee, soda, to espresso, etc." - I immediately thought of my favorite coffeehouse drink. I'll get to that. But here's what the #BundtBakers are sharing... Mysterious Masala Chai #SipbySip #Sponsored

    This post is sponsored in conjunction with #SipbySip. I received product samples from sponsor companies to aid in the creation of the  #SipbySip  recipes.  All opinions are mine alone. When I received a care package from  The Republic of Tea * - with their new The Mandolorian teas - I knew that I would eventually get around to making a masala chai with the   Star Wars: The Mandalorian - Mysterious Black Tea   which is made up of b lack tea from Kenya, South India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Darjeeling.  Masala Chai is a family favorite and it's super simple. But I did want to point out a couple of things because words matter and I try to be as precise as I can. Chai means 'tea'. Masala means 'spiced'. So this is just spiced tea. If you go to one of those corporate coffee chains and see 'Chai Tea', you can just give a little chuckle that they are offering Tea Tea. Ingredients serves 3 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg ...

Chai Latte Gummy Bears

After I made three different versions of wine gummy bears - more on that soon! - I needed to make something without alcohol. Since I felt like curling up with mug of chai, I used 1/2 C to make a batch of Chai Latte Gummy Bears for my trio. They were all happy! Ingredients Chai Latte 4 whole cloves 2 white cardamom pods 1 cinnamon stick, broken into pieces 1 star anise 3 cups water 1⁄4 teaspoon ground ginger 1⁄8 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper 1⁄2 cup milk 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar 2 Tablespoons black tea (decaf is best, especially if you are sharing with kids) Gummy Bears 1/2 cup chai latte 3 envelopes unflavored gelatin 1 Tablespoon organic granulated sugar also needed bear mold (mine is a gummy bear silicone ice cube tray) Procedure Chai Latte Crush the cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon, and star anise with a mortar and pestle. Chai Sweet Chili Pickled Cherries for #TripleSBites

You will see these Chai Sweet Chili Pickled Cherries as part of an upcoming dish. But they would be a wonderful addition to any cheese and charcuterie platter. When I received the Chai Sweet Chili sauce from Intensity Academy * - for participating in the upcoming online blogging event #TripleSBites - I knew that I wanted to make some kind of pickles. Then I saw cherries at Whole Foods and a lightbulb went on. Pickled Cherries. I mirrored the spices you would use in chai instead of the typical pickling spices. Ingredients 1/3 C organic granulated sugar 1 1/4 t salt (I used a red Hawaiian salt) 1 t coriander seeds 2 cinnamon sticks 8 whole cloves 3 star anise 1/2 C organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar 1/2 C water 2 T Chai Sweet Chili sauce (thanks,  Intensity Academy * ) 1 pound fresh cherries Procedure In a small saucepan, combine water and vinegar and bring to a boil. Lower heat to a simmer and stir in Chai Sweet Chili sauce. Cook ...

Marigold Masala Chai {Food'N'Flix}

Heather from girlichef  is hosting  Food'N'Flix  this month. And her pick - Monsoon Wedding  - is one I hadn't seen, so I was excited to watch something new-to-me. Click here  to see Heather's invitation to her movie selection. So, one night, while I was waiting for some dough to rise and all three of the testosterone monsters were sleeping soundly, I watched it. The film, artfully, mirrors the chaos that is planning a wedding...during monsoon season, no less. Add to that an odd mix of traditions and modernity; three languages - English, Hindi, and Punjabi; and guests from three continents. Then picture that the bride hails from Delhi and the groom has just flown in from Texas; theirs is an arranged union. Oh, and the bride is still involved with her already-married older lover. Yep, you're getting the idea now. Mayhem and chaos abound that can only lead to one thing: entertainment! Wet, messy entertainment. There are moments of real drama. ...

Chocolate Chai Shortbreads

10 T butter 1/2 C packed organic brown sugar 2 T loose leaf chocolate chai tea 1 egg, beaten 2 C white whole wheat flour raw turbinado sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Beat the butter and sugar until fluffy. Stir in tea leaves until well combined. Beat in the egg, then carefully fold in the flour. Roll the dough intoa long cylinders. I opted to do two smaller cylinders. Flatten the cylinder into a rectangular shape or keep in a cylinder, pressing raw turbinado sugar or unsweetened cocoa powder into the sides. Put the dough in plastic wrap and chill for about an hour, until the dough is firm enough to slice. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough cylinder widthwise into 1/4" slices and place, slightly apart, on the baking sheets. Bake for 15-18 minutes until slightly browned. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
