Gingerbread Marshmallows #FoodNFlix

This month, for Food'N'Flix , Debra of  Eliot's Eats  is hosting. She asked us to watch  The Holiday * and you can read her invitation  here . We have already started with our holiday preparations. At the end of such a tumultuous year - being sheltered-in-place since March, missing every single celebration with friends and family since then including birthdays, anniversaries, R's high school graduation, and more, you get the drift - we needed a little Christmas spirit in our lives. The day after Thanksgiving, we drove up to the Santa Cruz mountains and cut down a tree. And I have had Christmas music streaming in the kitchen as I cook since then as well!  The Movie photo from amazon So, when I saw Debra's pick, I was excited to settle in for a holiday rom-com...alone. Everyone in my household looked at the movie and decided to vacate the living room and do something else. Anything else. Fine. Writer and director Nancy Meyers has also written It's Complicated (whi...

La Vigilia di Natale + Panforte Margherita #VigiliaDiNatale #FishFridayFoodies

It's time for Fish Friday Foodies' December event. W e are a group of seafood-loving bloggers, rallied by Wendy of  A Day in the Life on the Farm , to   share fish and seafood recipes on the third Friday of the month. And t his month Karen of  Karen's Kitchen Stories  is at the helm, while the group serves up a virtual  La Vigilia  which is short for  La  Vigilia di Natale . Karen provided a little guidance by sharing: "The Feast of the Seven Fishes is an Italian American Christmas Eve tradition. There are no hard rules." She gave us the outline of the courses according to Bon Appetit  magazine and let us run with it. Years ago, when I was in college, I dated a guy whose family was from Calabria. And the first Christmas I spent with them was when I learned about this tradition. His family, however, did twelve fish courses - not seven - in honor of the twelve apostles. Ironically, no one in that family really cooked; so twelve course...

{Gluten-Free} Kimchi Burgers

Kimchi burgers are a family favorite. So, after D and I finished our loop of the property on the Deuce Coupe, I whipped up these yummies for our anniversary lunch while we waited for Jake and R to finish their rides. Ingredients  makes 6 slightly larger than 1/4 pound burgers  1 pound organic, grass-fed ground beef (we used a 15% fat) 1/2 pound ground pork 2 T ginger syrup 4 cloves garlic  3 T gluten-free soy sauce or tamari 1 T chile sauce 1 t toasted sesame oil freshly ground pepper freshly ground salt Also needed buns (I used a mixture of gluten-free, regular, and pretzel), bell peppers, kimchi Procedure Prepare grill. Combine all but the last two ingredients and the extras. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions, shaping each into a 3/4" thick patty. Place patties on a grill rack coated with cooking spray and grill on each side until your preferred level of doneness. Grill the peppers and toast the buns, too. ...

#GuacSquad12 BONUS Recipe: Chocolate Guacamole #sponsor

I've just wrapped up my multi-day, multi-blogger event - #GuacSquad12 - that was sponsored by   Casabella ,  Gourmet Garden Herbs & Spices , and  Melissa's Produce .    In case you missed it, you can still get  the scoop . And,   i f you love guacamole, you should definitely  explore  all of the creative takes on guac: here . I made a Holy Mole Guac on the first day of the event and shared a Chunky Greek Guacamole on the last day of the event. While I was so excited about all of the versions - we had Roasted Peach Guacamole from Jane's Adventures in Dinner ; Deviled Egg Guac from A Day in the Life on the Farm ; and a Grilled Guacamole from Cafe Terra ; and so many more - I realized we were missing a dessert guacamole. No one had taken the plunge to create a guacamole as a final course. Hmmm... So, in typical Camilla-style, I embraced the adventure and decided to create a chocolate guacamole as a bonus recipe for...

Momiji Tempura for #UnearthedParty #sponsor

This sponsored post is written by me in conjunction with the  The Book Club Cookbook launch  of their new food blogger party feature. All opinions are my own. There is a new food blogger party feature on  The Book Club Cookbook website  and I'm excited to be part of the inaugural event. The first title   Unearthed: Love, Acceptance, and Other Lessons from an Abandoned Garden   by Alexandra Risen.* You can check out details about the #UnearthedParty: here . On the Page... Unearthed: Love, Acceptance, and Other Lessons from an Abandoned Garden   by Alexandra Risen is a memoir whose events are bookended by the deaths of her father, at the beginning, and her mother, at the end. After her father dies, Risen and her family purchase a home in Toronto that has a garden that's been long forgotten. When they first look at the home, Risen writes... "It's a complete mess," I say. I love  it. Could I finally put all my gardening books to use...
