#10DaysofTailgate: Ketchup & Mustard Glazed Meatballs

A couple of years ago, we discovered 'mustard grilled' burgers on In'N'Out's secret menu. Not being in the In'N'Out's kitchen, I can only guess as to what they do with the mustard. But I guessed that it probably had to do with brushing the meat with mustard while it cooked. Whatever they do, it adds something amazing to an already good burger. So, for today's #10DaysofTailgate post, I bring you: mustard and ketchup glazed meatballs. Jalapeño Mustard and Date Ketchup. Yep, these are fancy. Mustard and ketchup are integral part of a tailgate party and I love that El Diablo Hot & Spicy Mustard and Not Ketchup got into the game by sponsoring our event.* Thank you!! Ingredients 1 lb ground beef 1 lb ground pork 1 onion, peeled and diced 1 T  Not Ketchup 's Smoky Date + more for brushing on while cooking 1 T  El Diablo Hot & Spicy Mustard 's  Jalapeno  + more for brushing on while cooking freshly ground sea salt...

Smoldering Pants Brussels Sprouts

Okay, there's a story behind the name of this recipe. Let me start with this: R loves Brussels sprouts. He dances around at the market when he sees them. But he doesn't like mustard. In fact, if I even say the word mustard in relation to a dish, he decides before he even tries it that he doesn't like it. It's a little ridiculous, especially for a kid who eats everything. So, I wanted to try a mustard-glazed Brussels Sprout. I had mentioned it and he asked if I could do some mustard and some not. Well, I didn't agree to that, so I skipped the non-mustardized version. They all were the same. When I served them, he asked if they had mustard. I - here's the lie - "they have olive oil and soy sauce." Yes, I do believe that omission is still a lie, but I ran with it. He ate his serving and helped himself to some more. "So?" I queried, "Did you like the Brussels sprouts?" Yes, he nodded enthusiastically. "Okay," I pa...

SRC: Sweet and Sour Meatballs

It's time for Group B's  Secret Recipe Club   August reveal. This month I was assigned to   Join Us, Pull Up a Chair ,  a blog written by Heather. Heather started her blog as a way to organize her recipes that were overtaking her office in the form of stacks and stacks of magazines, pages ripped from magazines and printed out recipes. Great intentions, but she admits: "I could never find that one recipe I was looking for." I totally understand that! I'm so glad she started this blog. I can't wait till I see fresh cranberries in the autumn; I am definitely going to make her Cranberry Chutney . Also on my short list: Beergaritas , Baked Potato Soup , Mini Scallop Casseroles , Balsamic-Roasted Pork Tenderloin , and Turkey Gyros . Yum, yum, yum. The recipe I selected to share reminds me of some meatballs that my mom used to make when I was a kid...actually, it probably was this recipe. I love the sweet and sour combination, but I adapted the r...
