#BurgerMonth: El Diablo Hot & Spicy Mustard is Sponsoring + Giveaway

Holy smokes it was a good mail day! When I heard that El Diablo Mustard was sponsoring #BurgerMonth, I was excited. We are a little mustard mad in my house. I mean, D has his own bottle of mustard that he will not share with anyone else; he even made a Spicy Carrot Cake - with mustard -  for Easter this year. I initially thought they were sending three mustards and asked if I could pick the three flavors I wanted. Then I found out that I was getting to sample all six flavors.* I think I might have squealed aloud. You have the chance to get a set of mustards of your very own! Click for  link to the give-away . I received: Mango, Heat Meets Sweet; Roasted Chipotle, A Kick of the Southwest; Steakhouse, Hearty Flavor to Treat Your Tastebuds; Texas Chili, Don't Mess with Texas!; Jalapeno, Popping with Pepper Flavor; and Habanero, A Flavor Inferno for Daring Types.  My mind is reeling with what I can do to really highlight these flavors. You'll defi...

Olive Oil Chocolate Cake

After a full day of adventuring, our 10-year-old informed us that we had to have a cake for our anniversary. Jake just looked at me and shrugged. So, I looked at what I had brought with us to the cabin in the snow and made this dessert. Thanks to Bob's Red Mill for the Whole Wheat Pastry Flour; they sent me a complimentary bag for participating in an upcoming brunch event - #BrunchWeek! I loved it and will definitely be using it more often. Taskmaster Dyn was pleased. Fourteen years. Happy anniversary, my Love. Ingredients 2 C organic coconut sugar 1¾ C Bob’s Red Mill whole wheat pastry flour ¾ C unsweetened cocoa powder 1 ½ t baking soda 1 ½ t baking powder 1 t fleur de sel 2 eggs 1 C organic milk ½ C olive oil 2 T red wine 1 C boiling water 1 C chocolate chunks Procedure Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Petit Amuse - September Goodies

Look at what I got yesterday! My first Petit Amuse subscription sample box. Check them out: Petit Amuse ! Seriously. I am enamoured. They offer gourmet and specialty food sample boxes to introduce consumers to small food producers, helping them compete with the larger, mass-producing companies. The sample boxes are a wonderful way to try new products without spending a lot. I already love this subscription. And the box only lasted for about ten minutes. As soon as I cut through the tape, Mann hands were grabbing and the great barter began. "I'll trade you this for that!" What is it? "I dunno. Wanna trade?" Here's what we tried...and the great new producers I've discovered... CC Made, Pistachio Nut Popcorn Cassandra Chen used to be a currency trader. Then she swapped the trading floor for a kitchen. Now she's known for her trademark caramels and popcorn. Effie's Homemade , Oatcakes These are made by Joan MacIsaac...

Petite Amuse Sample Box

Today I saw, on one of my favorite foodie bloggers' blogs, a plug for Petite Amuse . Check them out: Petite Amuse ! Seriously. I am enamoured. They offer gourmet and specialty food sample boxes to introduce consumers to small food producers, helping them compete with the larger, mass-producing companies. The sample boxes seem a wonderful way to try new products without spending a lot. And, judging from Kristin's sample box just received, I am going to love this subscription. This month she received - ice wine jelly from Caramoomel ; salted rosemary shortbread and Cha-Chas from Lark Fine Foods ; sundried tomato and parmesan popcorn from Oogie's Gourmet Popcorn ; and something from Garuka Bars . After reading her post, it took me all of two minutes to sign up for my very own sample box. So, when I get that, you'll hear back from me. Until then, I'll just peruse their website and drool.
