Raspberry Roll Cake #NationalRaspberryCakeDay #SundayFunday

Today the Sunday Funday group is sharing raspberry cake recipes. Thanks to Stacy of  Food Lust People Love , Sue of  Palatable Pastime , Rebekah of  Making Miracles , and Wendy of  A Day in the Life on the Farm  for coordinating this low-stress group. This week, I am hosting and suggested we share recipes to celebrate National Raspberry Cake Day which is tomorrow, Sunday, July 31st. Because most of the country is in a heat wave, I told the bloggers to be creative...they didn't even have to turn on the oven! Here's the list of recipes... SRC Reveal: delishhh

It's time for the November  Secret Recipe Club  reveal: Delishhh is a food blog written by Ewa who was born in Sweden, raised in Asia and now lives in the Seattle. She has a passion for international flavor and all things related to food. She enjoys sharing her recipes and her evolving fascination with the global artistry of culinary delights. My kinda gal for sure! There were sooooo many of her recipes that I wanted to try. Her Spiced Pumpkin Cake ,  her Plum-Marscarpone Pie , and her B alsamic Glazed Flank Steak  immediately jumped out at me. Her Rosemary-Parmesan Crackers are on my short list. But it was her restaurant review for Tamarind Tree in Seattle and recipe for Vietnamese Spring Rolls that were screaming my name. I didn't have any rice vermicelli, but I had a clump of enoki mushrooms. They look similar to noodles, right!? I also adapted Ewa's recipe to match what I had on hand, swapping out the basil for mint, adding cucumbers and avo...

Gallo-Pinto Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

If you've been following me for awhile, you'll know that one of my missions in life is to challenge people's palettes, specifically, if a friend tells me "I don't eat _____________." _____________ is exactly what I'm going to make for them. So, when a friend told me that cabbage + anything = scary, I decided to make a couple of things for him, with the proviso that he only needs to eat one bite, but that I require photographic evidence of him trying the dish. First up: gallo-pinto stuffed cabbage rolls. I figured that sorma , Serbian cabbage rolls stuffed with meat and sauerkraut, was probably too much cabbage for my cabbage-phobic friend.  To support my effort, another friend donated some bounty from her garden in the form of two heads of cabbage. I had some leftover gallo pinto . I added diced cooked chicken sausages, 2 beaten eggs, and a cup of shredded cheese. Then I blanched some cabbage leaves, stuffed them with the mixture, rolled them into tight ...

Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

Some people have a favorite local bakery where just the thought of shelves lined with freshly baked treats can get them out of bed on a chilly Saturday morning. My husband, on the other hand, lounges in bed, whispers three little words in my ear, rolls over, pulls the covers over his head, and waits. What were the three words? Pumpkin. Cinnamon. Rolls. Yes, I am highly predictable and easily swayed by the mere mention of food. Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls. The words reverberate in my head until I manage to slide out of bed. And by the time my bare feet hit the chilly wood floor, I've figured out how to give those words life. An hour later, we're all sitting in the dining room. And as my pumpkin spiced espresso begins to bubble, I get up from the table. Out of the corner of my eye, I catch Jake giving the boys a wink that says, "And that's how it's done, boys." 1 T active yeast 2 t organic granulated sugar 1 1/2 C pumpkin puree 2 C white whole wheat flour pinch salt ...
