I don't remember when I ordered this book - Serving Crazy with Curry: A Novel by Amulya Malladi* - but I read it this week as a diversion from thinking about the heavy responsibility of re-opening a school in the middle of this on-going pandemic. That is a tale for another time... On the Page I wanted to like  Serving Crazy with Curry  more than I did. The characters were initially interesting and reminded me very much of some families I knew when I was in college...at the same place Shobha attended. (Go, Bears!) The parents were immigrants from India; the kids were either American-born or very Americanized. And the clashes of the cultures were palpable in both my memories and this novel. In the book, Devi is ravaged by immense pressure to marry and become a traditional Indian wife. Her sister, Shobha, had an arranged marriage and, from the outside, has a charmed life. It's time for Fish Friday Foodies' October event. We are a group of seafood-loving bloggers, rallied by Wendy of  A Day in the Life on the Farm , to   share fish and seafood recipes on the third Friday of the month. This is, easily, my favorite recipe sharing event of the month. I always come away with a list of recipes that I just have to try! This month, Claire of Sprinkles and Sprouts is hosting. She asked us to toss some fish or seafood into pasta and share it with you all.  So, after three years of being gluten-free - he doesn't have Celiac disease or any other medical condition that requires him to be gluten-free - Jake has decided he will ease back into gluten, but he does want to focus more on consuming lower carbs. Summer vacation means one thing for my kitchen time. There's more of it. When I don't have to wrangle the boys out of the car and straight to their desks to finish homework and, then, juggle my cutting boards and their homework questions, life is good. So, it's summer. And we are getting back to our Cooking Around the World adventure and hoping to make some headway through the alphabet! Tonight we traveled, by tabletop, to the Comoros Islands, an island nation in the Indian Ocean. The country, gaining independence from France in 1975, consists of the four islands in the volcanic Comoros archipelago: Ngazidja, Mwali, Nzwani, and Mahoré, With fewer than a million people, the Comoros is one of the least populous countries in the world, but is also one of the most densely populated.
