Lime-Poached Salmon Over Pea Pesto + Two Shepherds Skin Fermented 2019 Pinot Gris Ramato #WinePW #Sponsored

This is a sponsored post written by me in conjunction with the May #WinePW skin-fermented event. Wine samples  or wines  at an industry discount  were provided for this post and this page may contain affiliate links. This was a pairing I created for the skin-fermented wine event for May's Wine Pairing Weekend with a wine from Two Shepherds Winery.* You can read the tasting notes in my post: Diving into the Skin Fermented Wine Pool of Two Shepherds Winery. Once it goes live, on Friday, May 9th, I'll link to it. But here is the recipe for this simple dish with lots of seasonal flavors.  Please note that I am using the term ' pesto ' here, literally, not as in the basil, garlic, cheese deliciousness that you might be thinking.  The name derives from the Italian verb pestare which means to pound or to crush, referring to the original way of preparing it - with a mortar and pestle. The ingredients in a traditional pesto are ground with a circular m...

Keema Matar (Indian Beef with Peas) #EattheWorld

Here we are in November for another installment of our #EattheWorld project, being spearheaded by Evelyne of  CulturEatz . Here's  her challenge . In February we kicked off the project with  Cuba ; in March we celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a tabletop trip to  Ireland !  Thailand  was our April destination. May had us headed to  Kenya . You get the idea. Last month Evelyne invited us to a special edition: #EattheWorld for Halloween . What spooky, delicious fun! And, this month, we are continuing our culinary nods to international festivals by posting Indian recipes in honor of Diwali. Diwali Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights and is celebrated every autumn in this hemisphere. From my limited research, the festival symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. That is much needed in this day and political climate. So, while I'm always up for learning about different internat...

Il Verdetto di Pasqua + Sella & Mosca Terre Rare Riserva Carignano #ItalianFWT

Today the Italian Food Wine & Travel bloggers are sharing Italian Easter Wines and Food. Jen of Vino Travels is our hostess. One thing I loved about my Easter in Rome was that it was about the resurrection and not about Peeps and Cadbury Eggs! It was about something sacred. It was about family. And it was about food. Well, maybe it wasn't about food, but food is how I commemorate and celebrate, so it was about food for me. Here's what the #ItalianFWT crew is sharing... Spring-Kissed Seafood Chowder + Pelerin 2011 Les Tournesols for #winePW

The second Saturday of the month is one of my favorite days. Do you know why? Because it's our #winePW - Wine Pairing Weekend - reveal. I absolutely adore it. How can you not love bloggers who love food  and  love wine?! It's a fantastic event from which I never fail to make a wine shopping list. And this month Wendy, in her debut hosting appearance, of  A Day in the Life on the Farm  is hosting. Here's  Wendy's invitation   for  " A Wine Lover's Dilemma." She's asked us to choose our favorite spring flavor and pick a wine that will highlight all of the wonderful qualities in the dish. What a fun project! If you see this early enough, please join us April 11th at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. We’ll be chatting on twitter at  #WinePW  about our Spring food and wine pairings. We’d love to have you join us! During these events, I try to highlight a local-to-me vintner and, if possible, a new-to-me vintner. It's an adventure all around....
