Musings on Marriage, Moruno-Spiced Burgers, & L'Ecole's 2017 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon #Sponsored

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of L'Ecole . Complimentary wine was provided for this post and this page may contain affiliate links. However, all opinions expressed here are my own.     This month kicks off a series of monthly posts that I'll be doing in collaboration with  L'Ecole Winery .* Once a month, I'll participate in a virtual tasting with their marketing manager, the winemaker, and the general manager. Then I'll post a pairing that I've created to go along with the wine. Some months I hope to share more than one pairing with one being posted on my  Culinary Cam YouTube  channel, such as the Savory Goat Cheese Truffles + L'Ecole's 2019 Sémillon video:  here . Truffle Chip-Crusted Goat Cheese Truffles + McBride Sisters Brut Rosé #WinePW

This month, Nicole of  Somm's Table  picked the topic of Celebrating BIPOC Winemakers & Winery Owners for our February Wine Pairing Weekend blogging group. I'll be honest: when I first saw her theme, I had no idea what that even meant. BIPOC. The acronym BIPOC refers to "black, indigenous, and people of color." So, I did some reading and ordered three different bottles from different winemakers. More on that in a second. If you are reading this soon enough, feel free to join our live Twitter chat on Saturday, February 13th at 8am Pacific. Follow the hashtag #WinePW and be sure to add that to anything you tweet so we can see it. In the meantime, all of these posts should be live by chat time. Here's what the bloggers are sharing...  Truffle Chip-Crusted Goat Cheese Truffles + McBride Sisters Brut Rosé on Culinary Adventures with Camilla The Many Talents of John Legend from A Day in the Life on the Farm Family and Wine Go Together for These Black-owned Bus...

Pretty in Pink: Rosa del Veneto Radicchio with Beets and Charred Red Pearl Onions #Sponsored

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Quail & Olive . Complimentary product was provided for this post and this page may contain affiliate links. However, all opinions expressed here are my own.   I am a sucker for anything pink, especially food...and especially around Valentines' Day. But, really, the color just makes me smile all year long. So, when Farmer Jamie of Serendipity Farms posted photos of some Italian radicchio she had available, I texted her immediately and ran over to meet her in a parking lot to exchange. My son joked, "Mom, you're like a vegetable junkie." Okay, there are worse habits, right? Look at these! They are gorgeous and delicious. So, you'll be seeing more recipes with these soon. But I started with a simple salad that was pink on pink on pink. All hues of pink!  I love supporting local businesses and this salad has the radicchio from Serendipity; beets and red onions from Robina's Organics ; and because radic...

Savory Goat Cheese Truffles + L'Ecole's 2019 Sémillon #Sponsored #CulinaryCam

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of L'Ecole . Complimentary wine was provided for this post and this page may contain affiliate links. However, all opinions expressed here are my own.   Earlier in December I took part in a virtual tasting with L'Ecole Winery * that was hosted by the marketing manager, the winemaker, and the general manager. And I am excited to be starting a series of wine pairings on my Culinary Cam YouTube channel. The video for this recipe is here  and there will be more coming in 2021. In My Glass Made with grapes from the Stillwater Creek, Klipsun, Lodmell, Rosebud, and Estate Seven Hills vineyards in the Columbia Valley, this Semillon is comprised of 88% Sémillon and 12% Sauvignon Blanc. Sémillon wine is a white wine for red wine lovers, I think. It has a more full body, like a Chardonnay, but its flavors lean more bright and vibrant like a Pinot Gris or Sauvignon Blanc. And at a suggested retail price of just $15, you can't beat t...

Watermelon Chabis Crostini #CrazyIngredientChallenge

I love the idea behind the Crazy Ingredient Challenge (CIC). In the CIC, we are assigned two ingredients to cook and create. This month, Kelly of  Passion Kneaded   is hosting. So, here goes... August's Crazy In gredient Challenge = goat cheese and watermelon Chabis is a French cheese made with goat milk. It has a delicate flavor and is really just a pillow of fresh goat cheese. I decided to make an easy appetizer with a smear of chabis topped with cubes of sweet watermelon and earthy roasted beets. To stay with the pink thing  I had going on, I added tiny pink rose petals and poured a Vinho Verde Rosé. Ingredients baguette, sliced and toasted chabis 1/2 C cubed watermelon 1/2 C cubed roasted beets (here's how to roast beets) 1 T fresh basil, finely sliced freshly ground salt freshly ground pepper olive oil organic rose petals, optional Procedure Place watermelon and beets in a small mixing bowl. Fold in the ba...
