An Amusing Mouthful: Grilled Prawns with Caviar Lime #FishFridayFoodies

It's time for the final Fish Friday Foodies' 2020  event. W e are a group of seafood-loving bloggers, rallied by Wendy of  A Day in the Life on the Farm , to   share fish and seafood recipes on the third Friday of the month.  And this month, I am hosting. I asked the bloggers to share recipes for seafood amuse-bouche. I wrote: " Let's make some diminutive seafood bites. Amuse-bouche are single, bite-sized hors d'Å“uvre. Get creative with a seafood-based amuse-bouche and we can all have a virtual #FishFridayFoodies holiday party."  Here's the December 2020 line-up from the #FishFridayFoodies. I cannot wait to try these recipes... Prawn Quixote {Page to Plate Thanksgiving}

The beauty of this dish comes from the surprising burst of citrus of caviar limes. They are so pretty and so tasty. Don't they look just like fish roe? Ingredients 1 lb prawns, deveined with shell and tail intact 1/4 C freshly squeezed lime juice (I used fresh Bearrs lime) 1/4 C olive oil 2 T tamari or soy sauce 1 t ground coriander 1 t ground smoked paprika 1/2 t freshly ground pepper caviar limes for serving fleur de sel for serving Procedure Whisk all ingredients together - except for the caviar lime- and marinate prawns, on skewers, for at least 2 hours. Longer is better. Grill over hot coals till opaque. To serve, remove prawns from skeweres. Squeeze half a caviar lime on top of each prawn and sprinkle with fleur de sel . Serve immediately.

It's time for Group B's  Secret Recipe Club   October reveal. This month I was assigned to   Searching for Spice , penned by Corina .  Corina shares that Searching for Spice began as a way of recording some of her favorite recipes and to have a place where she could easily find those dishes when she wanted to make them again. I think we all use our blogs that way! Very convenient...except when you're offline somewhere. Some of her favorite recipes are curries, stir fries and spicy salads. And she loves Indian, Mexican, North African, Thai and Chinese food. Gotta love that. I chuckled when I read that she refers to her kids as 'Little Miss Spice' and 'Master Spice.' Mine are 'The Precise Kitchen Elf' and 'The Enthusiastic Kitchen Elf.' I think all of our kids are going to be fabulous cooks with all the time they're logging in the kitchen! Speaking of kids...while mine are not picky eaters, they both really don't c...

Olive Oil-Poached Fish with Caviar Limes

Have you ever poached fish in olive oil? If not, you should! I first discovered this method when I entered an olive oil cooking contest. I won - with some Malfatti di Ricotta e Bietola - the local store contest and got to attend the Olive Festival in Paso Robles a couple of years ago. Another winner had submitted a recipe with this process and I've tried it a couple of times. It's easy and results in completely moist fish for a quick, mostly hands off dinner. Ingredients fish olive oil freshly ground salt freshly ground pepper juice from 1 lemon caviar limes for garnish (click for an intro to caviar limes ) Procedure Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Lay your fish in an oven-proof baking dish. Fill pan with enough olive oil to mostly cover the filets. Drizzle the fish with lemon juice and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with foil. Place in the oven for 25 minutes. Check for doneness. If the fish needs more time, return the dish to the oven. T...
