Boeuf Bourguignon + Domaine Les Aphillanthes Côtes du Rhône Galets Plan de Dieu 2019 #SoupSwappers

When I was prepping for a Julia Child event for the French Winophiles, I tried my hand at her Boeuf Bourguignon and, then, promptly forgot to write it up because I had landed on making a Tarte Tartin. But, then, I realized that the Saturday Soup Swappers were focused on comforting soups and I knew that this definitely fit the bill. So, welcome to the October #SoupSwappers event. Wendy of  A Day in the Life on the Farm  started this group and I'm always grateful to have a few more recipes to try. Poulet au Porto #FantasticalFoodFight

I love the Fantastical Food Fight coordinated by Sarah of  Fantastical Sharing of Recipes . For more information about the event, click  here . I haven't been very good at participating, but this month, I couldn't resist.  Our theme for the month is: Julia Child in honor of her birthday; so the group must be a Julia Child or Julia Child-inspired recipe. The Julia Child Fantastical Food Fight An InLinkz Link-up Poulet au Porto Chicken with Port Wine, Cream and Mushrooms I'll just start with this: this is a very loose adaptation of the version at juliachildsrecipes.com ( here ). Very loose. I was inspired by her recipe, but wanted to have crispy chicken skin...and I didn't have any cognac to set aflame though I am certain that my boys would have loved that detail. In any case, this is my version of a Julia Child recipe; this is not her recipe. For example, she starts with already roasted chicken. I opted to cook my chicken thighs on the ...

Sole Meunière et Concombre au Beurre {Food'n'Flix}

When I saw that Leslie, from La Cocina de Leslie , had chosen Julie & Julia for this month's Food'N'Flix , I ran right out to the store and bought the DVD. I've seen the movie before, thoroughly enjoyed it, and was happy to watch it again...and own it. And I was just reading about Julia Child in The United States of Arugula . Perfect timing. Click here  to see Leslie's invitation to her movie selection. Julie & Julia is phenomenal on so many levels. It's the story of how two women from completely different generations claim their identities through food: Julia Child and Julie Powell. Meryl Streep is astonishing as Julia Child; not surprising as she's amazing in every movie she does. But it's almost eerie to watch her inhabit the roll. She becomes Julia. She is Julia. Amy Adams is charming as Julie Powell, the blogger who sets out to cook through Julia's Mastering the Art of French Cooking in a single year. 524 recipes in 365 days...
