Hibiscus Sparkler #Sponsored

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Selefina spices. Complimentary product was provided for this post and this page may contain affiliate links. However, all opinions expressed here are my own. When a contact from  Selefina * asked me if I would like to sample their new line, I looked through the website and let her know which of their products intrigued me. One that I ordered was their dried Hibiscus Petals . We don't drink a lot of soda in our household. But when we do, I usually make the syrup and add sparkling water. That's it! In this case, I decided to make a hibiscus simple syrup and drop a candied hibiscus in the bottom of the glass for a garnish And this syrup process is easily doubled or even tripled if you want to make more at one time. It keep in the fridge for awhile. I honestly am not sure how long as it never lasts long in my house. Hibiscus Simple Syrup 1 cup organic granulated sugar 1 cup water 1 Tablespoon dried hibiscus petals Place all of th...

Foraged Elderflower Sparkler

Lots of moms get flowers for Mothers' Day. I don't get a bouquet; I get foraged elderflowers. They definitely know me! We were leaving our hike yesterday morning and R spotted a series of elderflower bushes. "Mom, pull over!" he hollered. Jake hopped out and plucked a few clusters. R ran back to the original bush he had seen and grabbed two handfuls. And D, ever the pragmatist, requested, "Mamma, can you please make something that we can actually have? You know - not elderflower liqueur!!" Okay. So I took my Mothers' Day elderflowers and made a simple syrup that we poured into sparkling water for a homemade elderflower sparkler. Cheers. Ingredients Elderflower Simple Syrup 2 C elderflower blooms, destemmed 1-1/2 C water 1-1/2 C organic granulated sugar Sparkler ice cubes sparkling water Procedure Elderflower Simple Syrup Place water and sugar in a medium sauce pan. Heat to a simmer, swirl...

Grapefruit &Thyme Bourbon Smash #DerbyDayRecipes

When Ellen from Family Around the Table suggested a blogging event around Derby Day, I jumped at the chance though I wasn't completely sure I knew what that meant. So, I looked up the definition... derby noun  der·by \ ˈ d É™ r-bÄ“, especially British ˈ där-\ definition 1. any of several horse races held annually and usually restricted to three-year-olds 2. a race or contest open to all comers or to a specified category of contestants bicycle derby 3. a man's stiff felt hat with dome-shaped crown and narrow brim Ellen writes: "It’s said that in Louisville, Kentucky for 6 months leading up to the Kentucky Derby, that all conversation revolves around Derby Day. My blogger colleagues and I share some derby inspired foods. Is your hat ready?" Envy-able Sangria #FreshTastyValentines #sponsor #giveaway

Who doesn't love a good sangria? Typically it's a summer libation...well, at least for me. I don't think I've ever made sangria after Labor Day. But I was inspired to create a wintery version when I received some crisp apples from one of the sponsors for my multi-day, multi-blogger event - Fresh Tasty Valentines. So, with apples from Envy Apples and wine from another event sponsor - Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi - I bring you my Envy-able Sangria. I even headed out, during a break in the rain, with new clippers from  Casabella  to get some rosemary from the garden. And, on this final day of our event, I figured a nice libation to pour into glass and retreat to the couch was a must. Salud! Ingredients   1 apple (I used  Envy Apples ) 1/2 C fresh organic cranberries, sliced in half or pierced with a skewer 1 sprig fresh organic rosemary 1 bottle Sauvignon Blanc (I used Woodbridge) 4 T organic granulated sugar 1 C sparkling water fresh or...

Fig-Bourbon Fizz - Celebratory Sip for #SundaySupper's #IsabelsBirthdayBash

Today the Sunday Supper Movement crew is hosting a virtual party for our beloved founder Isabel...and it's been a surprise. But today is the day that we share our creations in her honor. I've been so excited to lift this glass to celebrate her birthday. Cheers, Isabel! Ingredients  makes 1 cocktail 2 fresh whole, ripe figs (I used 1 brown mission and 1 green) 2 brown sugar cubes 1/2 t raw organic honey 2-1/2 oz bourbon (I used Knob Creek) ice cubes 1/2 C sparkling water, chilled thin slices of fig for garnish Procedure Combine figs and sugar in a chilled pint glass. Muddle together for approximately 1 minute. Add in the honey and the bourbon - that "a jigger and a pony's worth" if that means anything to you!  Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice. Strain the fig mixture over the ice and top with sparkling water.  Stir to fully combine and garnish with fresh fig slices. Serve immediately. Happy birthday, Isabel! Wish I ...
